Can anyone recommend a good map for driving around Provence? Thanks.

Although the Michelin Atlas has wonderful maps, it is large and has spiral wire-ring binding which can easily become damaged in transit. The Atlas also has maps for all of France, which you will not need if you are just going to be driving in Provence. While we have the Atlas at home, we haven%26#39;t travelled with it in well over a decade.

Instead, we use Michelin Maps:

#340 Local (Bouches-du-Rhone, Var / 1 cm : 1.75 km), # 332 Local (Drome, Vaucluse / 1 cm :1.5 km)

and #341 Local,(Alpes-Maritimes / can%26#39;t put my hands on this one right now since it has been awhile since we have spent time this far to the East, so can%26#39;t tell you the scale).

Each map fully folded-up measures 4.5%26quot; x 9.75%26quot; and is just under .25%26quot; thick, when new - this is especially important in these days of highly restricted bag size %26amp; weight by most airlines. Michelin maps are easy to use and have scenic routes clearly delineated in green, and, if you lose or damage one of them they can be quickly and easily replaced in virtually any town or even in the smaller villages throughout Provence.

While you probably can%26#39;t walk into your local Chicago bookstore and buy these maps, you can certainly either order them on-line or get your bookstore to order them for you.
