Lodging question-apt. rental vs. hotel

I will be traveling to Paris in July with my 8 year old daughter. We are spending a week in London with Family, a week in Paris on our own and then 10 days in Germany with friends. Paris is the only destination we need to pay for lodging so I am willing to spend more than usual. I would like to stay very central and have been looking at apartments/hotels on the I%26#39;le St. Louis and in the 5th and 6th. Specifically, I have been looking at apartments offered by guestapartment.com, hotel du Jeu De Paume, and other hotels close to Notre Dame, I%26#39;le De la Cite. Any thoughts on these areas. Or would it be just as easy and maybe a little cheaper in the heart of St. Germain du Pres.

Thank you.

I like Ile St Louis as a place to stay (have been there in hotels for very short stays, and also apartments with Guest Apartment Services - loved the apartments, and their client service). I think this would be a great area for you and your daughter, and very centrally located. Especially if you are in an apartment, you will find almost everything you need within two or three blocks, plus lots of nice but not very expensive shops (and the best gelato and ice cream going!)

I forgot to mention - if it%26#39;s in your price range, the Guest Apartment property %26quot;Tulip%26quot; would be perfect for you and your daughter, as it has a 3/4 size bed in an alcove off the living area, plus a full size bedroom for you. I stayed there with a friend, and even for two adults it worked out very well.

Vacation in Paris is an excellent rental company. You pay in US dollars and receive the key before you leave. They were wonderful to work with.

The closer to Notre Dame, the better for seeing the sites. Having even a minimal kitchen makes eating in easier.

Thank you for the suggestions so far. I know this subject has been posted before but do you think air conditioning is something we should have at the end of July. I personally do not like using it at home in the summer, but am concerned about my daughters comfort and getting good a good nights sleep. Thanks again

I%26#39;ve been to Paris in summer many times, and never felt it was a problem that I didn%26#39;t have AC (it%26#39;s actually pretty unusual there, outside of stores and restaurants). Any apartment I%26#39;ve rented always had a couple of tabletop fans, and that%26#39;s been plenty for me. (In fact, the last couple of years there has been unusually cool and rainy weather in summer - just goes to show, it%26#39;s hard to predict.)

Have fun with the planning, and the trip.

I lived in Paris for three years without air conditioning and on the hottest days it was pretty unbearable. If you are not going to be in an air conditioned apartment get one that is stone not steel and glass and you will be cooler.

I am thinking of booking with Vacation In Paris. I%26#39;m glad to hear that someone likes it. They seem very affordable.

They are a very reputable company. I%26#39;ve used them 5-6 times all with great success. And, you%26#39;re right, their rentals are very afordable.

I remember iles st louis is one of the most expensive area in Paris.

I stayed in st germain des pres... it%26#39;s an amazing area.. this is where I really felt %26quot;Paris, the city of love%26quot;.

I booked at villa saint germain trough Prestigia.com. very nice hotel, service was excellent and the location is just perfect.

I definitely recommend this hotel.

PS: ask for M. Pierre. it%26#39;s the concierge of the hotel and he can find everything you need (concert tickets, restaurant reservation etc)
