I am indecisive what to pack for a trip to Paris for late April. Do you think I should pack more winter type of clothes and rain gear?
My first trip to Paris was in Feb.a few years ago after a snow skiing trip, so naturally I had plenty of winter clothes. The weather was a little wet and drizzley. Some days it was actually chilly and I appreciated having winter clothing with me.
Another trip to Paris was the first week of June and we got by comfortably with our Florida summer fashions and no rain at all. I wanted to just take a 25%26quot; suitcase instead of 29%26quot; on this trip.
Any advice from you experienced travelers or French residents. Thank you in advance for your tips.

Have a look at the BBC%26#39;s site: bbc.co.uk/weather/…
We were in Paris for 3 weeks in late March, early April in 2005 and the weather was, generally, gorgeous. Only rained about twice and we didn%26#39;t need cold weather gear - even by Sydney standards.

You should pack at least a breathable rainjacket with hood and a folding umbrella. Weather is variable in April. Click my name for a posting on what I pack for Paris in the Spring.

We were there 3rd week of April last year. It was gray and showery the whole week except for the last day when it finally warmed up a little and was sunny for the whole day.
It was not especially warm. When the sun was our it was nice, but when the sun was behind the clouds it was cool. We wore long sleeved shirts and pants and always needed a light jacket. Bring a small travel umbrella. While it didn%26#39;t rain consistantly, we used ours quite alot.
All that being said, I also have a friend who was there the same week the previous year and they had beautiful waarm weather in the 70%26#39;s. I have heard however that what we experiencesd is more typical.

I%26#39;m a north Floridian. For April I would pack my slacks and long-sleeve tees, a light jacket (water-resistant if possible), neck scarf... I always tuck in my Cuddl-duds (%26quot;silk%26quot; long underwear top and pants) just in case the mornings are chillier than expected. It will be quite a bit cooler and often some drizzle than you%26#39;d have in Orlando in April.

I concur with packing a %26quot;sophisticated%26quot; yet lightweight sublayer particularly for those cloudy, damp days. Maybe this depends upon age but I have surprisingly found those sorts of days, when the humidity is quite high, to be bone chilling.

Thank you for your replies. I think I will leave the jumbo winter coat and pack some layers. This is so funny. When I visited Paris 4 yrs. ago, we stayed in a hotel recommemded by Rick Steves in the Rue Cler district. I had a 29%26quot; suitcase and the case and even one person could not fit into an elevator together. We had to send one bag at a time up the elevator. So for this trip I am trying to be a less conspicious american and pack less. I am down sizing to 25 inch case for this trip. I will pack less %26amp; hopefully smart.

Bring clothes you can layer. Bring an umbrella. I have a very small fold up umbrella but it can get windy in paris and turn the umbrella inside out so you might want one which is a little sturdier.
The weather changes several times per day. The weather forecast is never right. You will see the 15 day forecast and then the next day the 15 day forecast looks completely different. It is maddening so you just have to be prepared for it all. Layering allows you to do that.
