Can a single diner eat dinner at Jules Verne? How?

My husband is coming to Paris the end of March. This time I cannot join him. He has long wanted to wat at Jules Verne. I tried to make an online reservation and it said %26quot;not possible%26quot; and suggested other places or lunch.

I was suspicious, so I tried with 2 people and it said a table is available.

I sent a webform to the Alain Ducasse website (there seems to be no contact info email for Jules Verne that I could find) asking if a single diner could eat dinner there and get a reservation by paying a surcharge or guaranteeing a minimum.

Does anyone know if this is possible? Has anyone done it?

I understand this may not be the best use of funds comapred to dining other places, but my husband has wated to dine there for 10 years and I would like to do this for him

Thanks.

It looks like there are some %26#39;phone numbers here:

restaurants-toureiffel.com/english/restauran…

I have played around on the Jules Verne Website, first of all I found this %26#39;phone number (you will need to find the international code):

01 45 55 61 44

Next I had a go at using their online reservations to reserve a table for 1 person. Although they would not give me the date I requested, if you click the %26#39;back%26#39; button, they will give you a list of alternatives. I have never dined there, but I can%26#39;t see any reason why you shouldn%26#39;t be able to book a table for 1. Here%26#39;s my ideas anyway..... a)keep playing around with the booking site and see what you can come up with, b) try the %26#39;phone numbers or look on Pages Jaunes, and see if speaking direct will help, c) ask the concierge at your husband%26#39;s Hotel to sort it out for you.

Good Luck!

The trouble is you need to make reservations well in advance so having a concierge make a reservation is probably not going to work.

They may be reluctant to give a single diner a window seat, though there are views from further back in the restaurant. Someone on TA also said you can go out to the second level deck between courses. Wish we had known that.

I would contact the restaurant direct to make this enquiry.

I had another look at the site and there are two things.

1. Reservations can be made by fax or phone as well as online booking. The level of English is very good among the staff.

2. I chose a date at random (April 24) and entered 1 diner at 7.00pm and there was no problem.

Perhaps the restaurant has a limited number of places for a single diner and they are booked on the night you tried. It may also be more difficult on a Friday or Saturday.

This url will give a different website which has contact numbers for phone and fax

Thank you all! We shall give them a call.
