My wife can%26#39;t swim.
Does entrance to water from the beach is shallow?
Thanks in advance.

I would not advise a non swimmer to swim at Nice - there is often a sudden drop made worse by the wave action on the pebbles -plus it can be hard to get out of the water if the waves pick up.
The beaches at Nice do have lifeguards in the summer months but it wouldn%26#39;t be enjoyable for your wife IMo.
The sea at Villefranche , Antibes [gravette and salis and ponteil beaches] , and juan les Pins is much better - sandy and and slower slope down and fairly protected from bad waves.

If you take the bus from Nice over to the beach at Villefranche-sur-Mer, it is very shallow and calm. In Nice itself, depending on the weather on any given day, the waves can knock you off your feet if you%26#39;re not careful. Plus, there can be a slight drop-off after entering the water in some spots.

And the beaches are pebbles not sand so beach shoes must be worn for comfort sake. Not the place to go for beach life AND swimming.

Just to second the above warning - I am a fairly strong swimmer and I went out into the sea at the Castel beach end of the beach in Nice and the tidal pull outwards was very powerful and downright scary. Perhaps its not like that all the time, but I don%26#39;t intend to find out. Villefranche is marvelous.
