University

Hi I%26#39;m trying to decide on where i want to study abroad for a semester abroad and I am considering the University of Savoie in Chambery. Could any one tell me what the town and area is like for a University student and if anyone has ever been if they could tell me what they thought about their time there that would be great thanks in advance

I studied myself there and I know the area very well. It´s a bit og a paradise for me but it all depends on what you´re after.

If you´re looking for night and city life, you´ll be bored to death...

If you´re looking for outdoor activities, Chambery is the right place: there is a lake where you can swim from late April to late September, the best ski resorts are within an hour´s drive and just near the town itself, there are loads of places for cycling, walking, etc.

There are quite a few foreign students at the Universite de Savoie, although the campus is not very big.

Chambery is very well connected to the TGv network, Paris is 3h30 and you can easily travel to Switzerland and Italy.

Lyon, France´s 2nd biggest city, is 45mn by car.
