things to do in antibes

Thinking of taking a day trip in Antibes during May. Can anyone tell me what there is to do there. Is half a day enough? vj40

There%26#39;s the Picasso Museum which is on the front just past the Marina. Antibes is a really nice place to just wander round, plenty of shops and there is actually a small sandy beach, which there isn%26#39;t of course in Nice. When we talk about Antibes we always bring up a little cafe we found in the back streets, completely occupied by locals, very relaxed and friendly, which was playing Those Were the Days on constant loop. 80)

If you%26#39;re going there from Nice don%26#39;t use the bus - it takes forever, take the train every time.

It depends on what you want to do in Antibes.

will you want to swim?

if so, la Gravette is the most sheltered as it has the ramparts round it which as a windbreak

walk round the marina and see the giant and luxurious yachts and compare them with the still-in-use little fishermen%26#39;s %26#39;pointu%26#39; boats on thge way to la gravette.

You can walk round the Ramparts [fortified city walls originally built by the Romans and perfected by the military architect vauban in the 17th century.]to see the views of the sea and mountains

The old town and provencal market are worth visiting as is the thursday morning clothes shoes, bags etc market

[thew picasso musum is in a castle dating backtr the 12 centrury so worth visiting even if you aren%26#39;t a picasso fan]

There is also an archaeological museum in part of the old fortifications [Rampart]

walk round the ramparts to see the views

there is a museum of illustration by the artist Peynet which also has exhibitions of art by other people- esp political cartoonists

walk up to the lighthouse and see the chapel of Notre Dame de Bon port

walk round the Cap d%26#39;antibes past the huge hotels and villas or go to Eilenroc Villa and gardens.[only tuesday and wed and not during july and augsut]

Is there a website for the political cartoonist gallery in Antibes? Or have you any contact details please? I%26#39;m a political cartoonist and would very much like to have a chat with anyone there about it.
