Hotel des Arts

Does anyone know if the Hotel des Arts 5, Rue Tholoze has chaged its name to Premium Hotel Montmatre? I have tried to book Hotel des Arts and get redirected to Premium Hotel site.

I don%26#39;t know that off-hand, but isn%26#39;t Hotel des Arts in Montmartre notorious for %26#39;walking%26#39; customers to other (ratty) hotels?

|||

Yes I just checked and in addition to www.arts-hotel-paris.com asking you to click on its new website and taking you to Premium Hotel Montmartre, I recognise some of the woodwork in room photos from the Hotel des Arts

Travelnutty, that is the one that is famous for lost bookings and relocation to other areas that are not as desirable. It got a couple of write ups a few years ago in articles on %26quot;great budget hotels%26quot; and seemed to get carried away with itself. It has been mixed up with other hotels named Hotel des Arts in other locations and some of the Tripadvisor reviews (at least when I last looked) had been misplaced so other hotels were accused of the practice.

I hope if it has been renamed there is a new management that will not overbook and then force people to relocate to hotels they don%26#39;t want to stay in

Thanks for the info from people - we are going to give booking this hotel a miss for awhile until things settle.

.. don%26#39;t know what things are going to settle.. this hotel has been %26#39;walking%26#39; customers for years...

|||

oh, you mean the new management. ok. got that. :)

|||

Try the Timhotel Montmartre on rue Ravignan instead.

Hi All

I have booked a few days in Hotel Des Arts in March.Has anyone stayed in this hotel!! It,s getting a bad press in the forums but not on guests reviews.. Is there ANOTHER Hotel des Arts in Paris?? this one is in Rue Tholoze .Maybe people are getting them mixed up!!

Thanks

Hi lambo, no, the bad reputation definitely belongs to the (now renamed) Hotel des Arts at rue Tholoze. If you go back in the reviews a couple of pages you will find a management response to a review mentioning overbooking saying this stopped after April 2007 when the current management took over.

tripadvisor.ie/…REVIEWS

A large percentage of the recent glowing reviews are one and only reviews of the TA member and their only contribution on TA, even where the reviewer claims to be a regular traveller. I wonder how genuine those reviews are, or perhaps it is another case where happy guests are being asked by reception to post a good review on Tripadvisor? An apartment owner has been criticised for that recently and it is no different if it is a hotel.

Thanks Faux

Maybe I should cancel the booking..I`ll keep a watch on reviews on other websites for a while to see what they say..Thanks for the info

Hi Iambo, they say management changed in April 2007 so watch for later reviews and if they are on TA check if they are first and only timers eg on TA. It does not mean they are false reviews but I am more comfortable with reviewers who have %26quot;good form%26quot; one way or the other.
