Car rental in Paris: Where to pick up and drop off?

Hi!

Can anyone tell me where to rent a car in or just outside Paris other than the Paris airports?

We will be driving to the D-Day beaches first. Is there a car rental location that would be easy to get to, taking the metro from Rue Cler near the Eiffel Tower, that is outside the crazy traffic of central Paris?

We will return to Paris a week later from Chartres, which is south west of Paris. Is there a place to drop off a rental car in Chartres or on the south-western outskirts of Paris?

I called Auto Europe to find out where we could pick up and drop off a rental car but the person I talked to said that he was located in the USA, not France, and therefore had no idea which rental locations would be best for us since he did not have a map of the pickup and drop off locations.

I would appreciate any help and suggestions.

There%26#39;s an AVIS desk http://tinyurl.com/am8uex in La Défense on %26quot;Place de La Défense%26quot;. It%26#39;s a relatively short trip on Métro line-1 from central Paris. It%26#39;s also directly (literally) above the A14 motorway to Caen and near the N10 from Chartres. We%26#39;ve only used Avis there but there are probably other companies there too.
