Transport from France to Italy

I am planning a two weeks trip in June that includes France and Italy. Plan to visit

1)France: Paris, avignon, nice

2) Italy: Rome, Venice, Florence

Can anyone provide some suggestion as the best way to travel flight, car or train? I don%26#39;t mind paying abit more if it really save alot of time. Although flights can be cheap, but taking taxi and waiting in immigration can be time consuming and expansive.

and suggestion which order is most efficient?

I see some Contiki tour travel through Paris, Venice and Florence and other places. Could anyone share their experience and why they decide to join the tour instead of travelling alone? and was it worth it?

Appreciate any opinions.

I will depend on how much of your own time and effort you%26#39;re willing to put into the research and planning of your trip. Tours are fine for those who simply want to go and don%26#39;t mind others establishing the preferences and priorities of their trip. You simply write the check and show up at the departure point for the bus on-time.

The prospective itinerary you%26#39;ve proposed is %26#39;doable%26#39; but may be a bit rushed in the time available...however you do it--tour, train, car. I%26#39;d be incline to cutting the itinerary to two locataion in France and two locations in Italy (you could add one more destination for one country or the other...but no more. Sometimes LESS is MORE

The itinerary can be done by train. Flying into Paris for a brief stay, then fast TGV to AIX-en-PROVENCE or NICE for a visit. Then onward rail connection to perhap Venice or Florence for another brief stay, then onward high-speed rail connection to a major Italian airport (Rome, Milan) for a flight home (an %26#39;open-jawed%26#39; flight itinerary).

It%26#39;s also possible to %26#39;split%26#39; modes of transfer--train to Aix-en-Provence, pick up a rental car and drive through Provence to Nice...then train to Venice, pick up another rental car and drive to Florence...then facty train to a major airport for the flight home.

Do some research on French and Italian train routes and schedules...to see what might or might not %26#39;work%26#39; for you.

The best on-line source of basic schedule information for research and planning purposes will be the German National Railway web site--
