Rental Apartments

I have been trying to locate a website that list rental appartments in the Loire Valley that are located within villages or smaller towns. I travel with my niece and her 5 year old son with Downs%26#39; Syndrome. He gets tired of always having to drive places so staying in rural gites is not the best option for us. We always enjoy our travels better when we are able to break up car trips with local walks to shopping, restaurants and parks. I was only able to locate 1 or 2 places on VRBO so was hoping for info on other sites. Having a kitchen and a home base works so much better when traveling with children. Thanks in Advance!

We found some though holidaylettings.co.uk . We stayed in a very pleasant two-bedroom apartment in Chinon that might be suitable for you: holidaylettings.co.uk/rentals/chinon/33036

Chinon is a lovely town to use as a base. It has a pretty centre with a square and restaurants, a river below the town and a castle above it. Many medieval houses and lots of nice cafes and restaurants. It was a town I felt you could live in, not just a tourist place. Traffic is pretty restricted too. You are able to drive to a place and unpack but there is not a lot of car traffic which makes it very pleasant. A large market on Thursdays too, which is always fun. Check out the Jean d%26#39;arc statue in the market square.

There are of course other chateaux close by, Azay le Rideau was pretty. And the big abbey of Fontevraud is also nearby and a great place to move around in safety and look at the buildings and gardens

Hi,

I%26#39;d second the Holiday Lettings route. I have successfully booked through them in the past and haven%26#39;t had any problems.

They%26#39;ve got a good selection in the Loire Valley: www.holidaylettings.co.uk/loire-valley/. A lot of them are rural, but there also seem to be some town/village places too.

Hope you have a lovely holiday with your family.

Thank you everyone for this input, I will definitely check out these possibilities. I love this website, it is like having a world full of friends with great insight! Thanks again.
