Can anyone recommend some must sees? We definitely will be taking the bateaux mouche at evening, but what to do when we land on Sunday am?
We do want to see the Louvre, Notre Dame and do a drive by on the eiffiel tower. Any recommendations?
we are staying at the hilton arc d%26#39;triomphe.

hopefully you like to walk. you could start walking down the Champs toward the Louvre then towards the Marias area before making your way towards Ille St Louis. Cross over the Seine on one of the bridges that provides a nice view of Notre Dame. Then head over to Notre Dame before wandering around St Germain de prix. (sp??) Weave your way back up towards the Eiffel tower and then back to the Arc. This should take about 3 hours if you keep your head down, don%26#39;t stop to admire any of the buildings, parks or museums, pass by the shops, don%26#39;t enjoy a crepe, and keep the camera in your pocket. There will be plenty of time for a coffee once you return to your room....or it could take your entire stay if you take your time an weave up and down the narrow streets.

Sunday, Monday and Tuesday are not the best days to visit Paris - these are exactly the days that museums and shops often close... It doesn%26#39;t have to be a problem, though - just plan carefully!
Shops: most of the shops are closed on Sunday and on Monday morning. But a lot of the shops along the Champs Elysées and in the Marais area are open on Sunday.
Museums: most museums are closed either Monday OR Tuesday. If you plan to visit museums, find out on which day they close (check the websites). The Louvre, for example, closes on Tuesday; the Musée d%26#39;Orsay closes on Monday.

Thanks for the info on that one! We will definitely check the websites for the opening times on the Louvre.
I am not so much concerned about stores, just the museum sights, Notre Dame and a river ride on the Seine.
Of course, we love to walk and take in sights too and stop at little local places for a small bite.

Be sure to wear very comfortable shoes. You are going to be doing a lot of walking in those three days

Going to Notre Dame on a Sunday may involve going at a time where you will not disturb worshipers at mass. But near the church are other lovely sights including the sublime Sainte Chapelle (no longer a church) and the lovely Isle St Louis, with a main street full of lovely shops, chocolate, cheese, galleries and the wonderful Berthillon Ice Cream (worth a visit into the shop itself. Closed Mon and Tues. Do order cassis flavour) If you want witty souvenirs, visit Pylones. Just the best.

Thank you lynn for the info. Do you know if the ice cream shop is open on Sunday? That sounded really yummy.
Would anyone recommend one of those kitchzy (sp) tours to see an overview of the sights and then zero in on specifics on Mon and Tues?
Would anyone recommend a show at the moulin rouge or is that just not worth the money?

Berthillon is open Sunday but not Monday or Tuesday. You can now buy the icecream in many places but the shop has a special charm.
Sometimes a half day tour is a really good way to get a feel for the town. It highlights the highlights.
I have not been, but my feeling is that the Moulin Rouge type experiences are not worth the large amount of money and tend to be rather tacky.
For my money I would go for a really good food experience.
Whatever, enjoy the experience.

I went Saturday-Tuesday in December. As has been pointed out some places close Sunday and Monday. however don%26#39;t get the impresion that Paris is dead, it certainly is not.
Depending if it is the first Sunday in the month the Louvre is free.
The Marais is thriving on Sunday as because there are a lot of Jewish businesses they close instead on Saturday. So Sunday is a good day to visit the Marais.
Rue Mouufetard in the 5th, a well known market street is also thriving and there are a group of people who play music, dance and have a sing along at the bottom at 12 midday.
Monday, the Pompidue centre is opened also and the Piccasso museum.
We always go shopping in the big stores on Monday, Galleries lafayette and Printemps as they are also open.
