How much time is necessary between trains leaving from the same station?
Say, a train arrives at Montpellier Saint Roch from Lyon at 14h57, and I have a connection at 15h09 to Barcelona. Would this be enough time to make the connection? Do trains typically leave on time, especially when it crosses from one country into another?
I found an SNCF webpage on Montpellier Saint Roch, but there is nothing about the station%26#39;s layout. I%26#39;m wondering if it%26#39;s a sprawling station. I%26#39;ll be travelling with my mother who%26#39;s in her early 60s and we%26#39;ll be lugging luggage.
Any advice would be great!

Yes, you should have enough time.

I have made connections through this station with my parents who are in their 80%26#39;s. It may be necessary to take the stairs one level down/up to change quais but you should have no problems.

Thanks!
Am a little worried because typically I would arrive 30 min or an hour before departure if I%26#39;m not familiar with the station. If it%26#39;s just one level up or down to change quais, I think we can manage.

There are not many platforms, and it is generally fairly quiet in there.
Not as chaotic as the station going to Malaysia from Singapore used to be !

Thanks, Peter, for the reassurance.
I often equate bewildering and chaotic train stations with big cities.
I%26#39;ve never taken the train from Singapore to Malaysia myself, even though I live in Singapore. The long-distance coaches are far more popular and direct. Prices are also very competitive.

Montpellier%26#39;s station is easy to navigate as are most stations in France.
When you get off the train from Lyon, look for TV monitor screen labelled %26#39;correspondances%26#39; and you will see the platform number (quai) listed for the next connecting trains to all parts.
Twelve minutes is more than enough, although I admit if I were making that connection I would take an earlier train in case the international train was not held!
(I am making a journey with a 14 minute connection later this year and I am a bit nervous about that!)
