Itinerary Help

My dh and I will be travelling to Prague in July for a business trip but are planning to go a week early and are thinking of flying into Paris for that week.

I have seen flights on Sky Europe very cheap between the 2 cities!

We would be in Paris from a Monday-Sunday. We are early 40%26#39;s, love to walk, love churches, castles, architecture and have never been before.

Would you kindly suggest an itinerary and also a central hotel in the under $250 per night range? We would love to see the Louvre, Versailles, as well as any hidden gems you may suggest.

Thank you

Keri

Sorry but I need you to do more research before I can help you. Either read this forum for awhile or look through a Paris guide book so you get an idea of your %26quot;must-sees.%26quot; A week is a lovely amount of time in Paris and you will get to see a lot.

Use the %26quot;search%26quot; function at the top of the forum to check out week itineraries.

Once you have a bunch of ideas of what you want to see, the we can help you group these things in a logical order. We can also perhaps add a few wonderful additions or ask you useful questions about your interests or your itinerary.

Hi, %26#39;darlings%26#39;... here are some tips for you..

How to choose a hotel:

tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g187147-i14-k24891…

Click on the %26quot;Overview%26quot; link upper left - - there are a LOT of articles written by the same people who post advice here.

Some of the top churches (or former churches) to see in Paris are

- Notre Dame de Paris

- Saint Chapelle (but only if it is sunny, the better to see the stained glass)

- Sacre Coeur

The only castle in Paris is the Chateau de Vincennes in the 12th arrondissement.

With that kind of budget - which is about €190 a night on current exchange rates - you could rent a really nice apartment in a very central location. This would allow you to visit some of the great fresh produce markets and cook for yourselves. Check out www.v1.paris.fr/EN/Living/markets/markets.asp for a list of the street markets and dates/times of operation.

If you choose a place with a washing machine - something that is a %26quot;must%26quot; on my list of apartment facilities when I am there for anything more than a *very* short stay - you can not only save heaps on hotel laundry bills, but you can travel lighter.

Some reputable agencies - with consistently good reviews on this forum - that you may wish to look into are:

-- www.vacationinparis.com (if you%26#39;re a US citizen, the prices are in $US, so no exchange penalty).

-- www.perfectlyparis.com (specializes in apartments in the Montmartre area, which is outside of the very centre of central Paris, but all of central Paris is on an excellent public transport network).

Once you decide where to stay, PM me and I%26#39;ll forward you some %26quot;week in Paris%26quot; itinerary suggestions - as long as you get to me before I fly out of Oz in late March.....

Pariswalks does some nice 2 hr. walking tours. Lots of history and Architecture. You will %26quot;learn %26quot; a neighborhood then be able to wander on your own afterwards.

Two churches I enjoyed last trip St Sulpice and ST Pierre de Montmartre.

Get a good map and group sites together although just about everything is doable by Metro, bus and WALKING.

Ditto apartment idea. I have rented from vacationparis.com
