Marriott's Rive Gauche Hotel??

We are using Marriott points and we were able to confirm the Marriott Rive Gauche Hotel. Is this hotel within walking distance to the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Louvre etc? Could anyone also give me some feedback on the area the hotel is in too? Any and all information is welcome.

Merci!

It would make for a very long walk, but there are two metro stations near the hotel, Saint-Jacques and Glacière, so you can get about easily, using the metro. Here is a link to a map (give it a moment to download) parisbytrain.com/files/2008/10/metro_geo.pdf

There are reviews of this hotel on TA, can read those tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g187147-d197610…

Have a look at the route on foot at maps.google.com:

Very handy for planning your sightseeing by walking or public transit.

I rejected that one (because of the long distances from the various places I wanted to go) in favor of the Marriott property by the Trocadero, when redeeming points in January. The Trocadero property is very nice, and an excellent location (the Trocadero is a large public space right across the Seine from the Eiffel Tower). I would suggest seeing whether it has rooms available for your time period.

Thank you so much for your quick responses! My sister and I stayed at Royal Magda 2 years ago and walked everywhere (and she is 71 yrs old)! I just have a hard time figuring out how far the sites are from the Marriott. We are in good health and able to walk, just don%26#39;t don%26#39;t know how far everything is from there. I%26#39;d prefer to walk if at all possible.

My husband has stayed at the Marriott Rive Gauche for business trips and loves this hotel. I%26#39;ve just verified with him that you really aren%26#39;t in walking distance to the sites you%26#39;ve mentioned but there is a metro stop right by the hotel. He and I will be staying there for a leisure trip in April using points because he has been so impressed with the service there. One other thing that he has mentioned is that there aren%26#39;t too many places to eat close to the hotel. Previously, we%26#39;ve stay with Marriott points at the Champs Elysees location and even though we LOVED that hotel and have the points to return there, we will be staying at the Rive Gauche location. Be sure and check out the many reviews of the hotel on this site and it might give you some more insight into whether it will work out for you.

UGApeach, thank you for all the information. Glad to hear the positive feedback on the hotel! Thanks again.

If you were at the Royal Magda Etoile Hotel on rue Troyon, it is much closer to the sites you mentioned than the Marriott Rive Gauche.

From Marriott RG to the Eiffel it is about a 1 hr 15 min. walk, to the Louvre also at least an hour walk and same for the Arc.

I know. I would stay at the Royal Magda again, but this time we are using points with Marriott.

My husband and I stayed here a few months ago and we really like this hotel. The Rive Gauche has a great staff and, while it%26#39;s a bit out of the way, the metro (and bus)is right there and you can get anywhere. The rue Daguerre is nearby with a lot of restaurants. A few blocks away is Place d%26#39;Italie where there are a variety of restaurants (many Asian) and more public transportation available.

The concierge lounge is very nice if you can get an upgrade. They serve a decent continental breakfast with a good selection of food at night.

We also used points for our stay and we would stay again at the Rive Gauche.
