Honeymoon in late July Early August

We are planning our honeymoon starting in Barcelona in late July then driving to Carcassonne for two nights and then heading to the French Riviera but are not sure where to go. We plan on leaving Carcassonne on August 3rd and we have to head back to Barcelona to catch our return flight which means driving back on the 7th. Any suggestions where we should stay, Nice, Marseille, Cassis, Antibes? any suggestions are welcome...we are not huge into night life but like a nice dinner out, would like some time in the sun, maybe scuba dive... sightseeing of course and just enjoying the area and each other%26#39;s company.

Hi,

Since you are planning to leave Carcassone on August 3rd and must return to Barcelone on the 7th, I think that you should consider remaining in Western Provence instead of travelling another 2.5-3 hours further to reach the Riviera/Cote d%26#39;Azur.

If you want to stay right at seaside, you might consider spending your 3 nights somewhere in the Camargue or perhaps going slightly further East to Cassis. Alternatively, you could spend some time somewhat inland, maybe somplace like St. Remy or Arles and visiting the coastal areas in a series of daytrips. Personally, I would vote for St. Remy or the area immediately adjacent to it known as Les Alpilles, but then I am an Alpilles Gal. There are a number of wonderful restaurants in the area, including the well known l%26#39;Ousteau de Beaumaniere and a host of places that dish out the wonderful regional food of Provence.

As you said, the most important thing is to have a wonderful time %26quot;enjoying the area and each other%26#39;s company%26quot;

Have a great honeymoon!!!

I agree with AlpillesGal.

Remember that late July early August is THE holiday period for europeans and the whole area is going to be very busy - especially if you head to the Cote d%26#39;Azur.

I suggest you find a nice hotel in the countryside to use as a base for trips to discover the area.

The Alpilles area is lovely (and not as busy as some parts of inland Provence in August).

One of my favorite hotels in the area to the north east of Avignon is at Crillon le Brave - do a google search. Pricy but very small and peaceful with a swimming pool with a stunning view of Mont Ventoux.

If you want to stay in a town Arles is another good base
