We are traveling in June and staying on the left bank in Paris. What is the best affordable and convenient way to get there from the airport?

As always, %26quot;best%26quot; and %26quot;affordable%26quot; and %26quot;convenient%26quot; do not give the same answer.
The most convenient is a taxi from the airport: €50 or so.
The most affordable is to catch the RER train from the airport into Paris, and change to the metro to get to a station close to your hotel.
The best is what you decide.

If you are staying near a metro station on the left bank, I%26#39;d go with the RER. We went to CDG airport at 6am by RER and it was an excellent service for just over 16 euro each. If there are more than 2 of you travelling together, the taxi may be more economical.

Go with the RER and metro unless you have piles of luggage or lots of people. Cost you about 16-18 Euros each and you can buy ticket with credit card at airport. Watch out for taxis as official rate may be 50 Euros but you better speak very good French or the price will be either 50 Euros each or over 100 Euros per car as there are a lot of taxi ripoffs.

I have never encountered a ripoff in an official Paris taxi: they go by the meter.
However, as you leave the terminal at CDG you may be approached by nice men in jackets and caps offering to drive you into Paris. These are very expensive hire cars.

RER from CDG into central Paris costs about 8 and a half Euro one way, so even if there are two or three of you, it is still much cheaper than taking a cab.
Someone mentioned a fare of about 17 Euro, that would be two way fare.

MisterWombat - have you been ripped off in an official taxi??? In 30 years of going to Paris, and living there for a while, I%26#39;ve never been ripped off and I%26#39;m very surprised to hear this. I%26#39;ve found Parisian taxi drivers to be very proud of their ability to get you somewhere as quickly and cheaply as possible. Yes, as other posters have noted, there are guys who will slide up to you in the terminal at CDG and offer you a taxi, and these are to be avoided at all costs, as they are not real taxis. I wouldn%26#39;t go near them with a barge pole.
