For those who have already visited Paris....

What was your favourite %26quot;a-ha%26quot; moment -- something you stumbled upon unexpectedly; something not on your original must-see list, etc. As someone who is making her first visit to Paris in 2 months, I thought it would be fun and interesting to know about your unexpected favourite finds (and I also hope to have some of my own!).

Are you going to be there in april?

It will be my first time and I want to have several moments like those, one of them at the Notre Dame C. by the gargoyles :) or everytime I discover a very french restaurant - not a touristy one.

Enjoy your trip

TravellingGal- you will have some of your own, I assure you!

Pylones gift shops. A real hoot.

Berthillon ice cream, especially the cassis flavour, and best of all if you go into the real cafe and sit down.

Sainte Chapelle, I had no idea it would be so beautiful both upstairs and downstairs

Memorial to the deportation behind Notre Dame.

The interior of Galleries Lafayette, the levels and the dome.

I second Sainte Chapelle.

Also Jardin du Luxembourg.

Aahhh

Oh, and definately a night cruise on the Seine.

|||

VEROPALO,

did you go on a tour cruise or actually a dinner cruise on the seine?

|||

I absolutely love Ste. Chappelle, but it was on my %26quot;must-see%26quot; list for my first trip.

But in 2006, I was sitting in the square facing Notre Dame late in the afternoon when the bells began to ring. Not being Catholic, it took me a minute or two to put 2+2 together, but when I heard the choir, I knew I had to go in for the Mass!

The choir and the organ rang off the stone walls in an almost magical sort of way - it was very moving. The following week, while in St. Peter%26#39;s, I heard the choir and immediately found a seat for Mass..........

Definitely taking the 10.30pm Seine cruise with Vedettes du Pont Neuf and passing the Eiffel Tower just as the light show started - spectacular!!!

We had meant to take an earler cruise which left on the hour, but we were running late so we took the last boat at 10.30pm!!!

This will sound odd, but four french guys eating (drinking) their lunch and playing cards at the outdoor antique market. Why Ah-ha.........well, it was one of the %26quot;local%26quot; moments that are so fun.

Realizing that I love Paris at all. We are not big-city people, so we avoid them usually. Surprise, surprise, we loved Paris. We are returning for another visit in less than 40 days.

Have fun,

chuck.
