Getting from Place du Gare to Ile St. Louis

How does one get from Place du Gare to Ile St. Louis with luggage? I hear that there%26#39;s no metro stop at Ile St. Louis.

Thanks and regards,

Pont Marie on Line 7 is the closest metro station.

If you have much luggage, it would be best to take a taxi.

I don%26#39;t think there is a %26quot;Place du Gare%26quot; in Paris. From another post of yours, I believe you are travelling by Eurostar, in which case the train will arrive at Gare du Nord.

Ile St-Louis is quite small, and the Métro stations Pont Marie and Sully-Morland on the right bank opposite the island (both on Line 7) are only about 200 metres from the island. If you tell us where you are staying, we can advise which is the nearest station, or you can look it up yourself on Google maps.

The Métro journey from Gare du Nord can be done either by Line 5 to Gare de l%26#39;Est, then change to Line 7; or by Line 4 to Châtelet, then change to Line 7. There will be steps to negotiate at all stations execpt (if you%26#39;re lucky) Line 5 at Gare du Nord. Personally I find it easier to take a taxi from Gare du Nord for that sort of journey.

For the return journey, Line 7 to Gare de l%26#39;Est gives you a level cross-platform change there to Line 5, thence to Gare du Nord, and it%26#39;s then all escalators up to Eurostar, so that way is quite convenient, though it%26#39;s not the shortest route.

You%26#39;re right. It%26#39;s Gare du Nord. Slip of the mind. We%26#39;ll be staying at Quai de Bourbon. Which station would be close to that address?

If we go by taxi, around how much would the fare be? And usually, what%26#39;s the tip?

Thanks and regards,

Maria

The Pont Marie station should be closest, but I don%26#39;t recall whether you would have to transfer beteen Metro lines to get to it. It%26#39;s just down from the Pont Marie bridge, which goes from the right bank to the center of the island. (If you are renting through Guest Apartments, their office is almost right at the end of that bridge as you come over from Pont Marie station.)

Gare du Nord to Pont Marie:

At Gare du Nord take either Line 4 direction Porte d%26#39;Orleans or Line 5 direction Place d%26#39;Italie and go one stop to Gare de l%26#39;Est. Change there to Line 7 direction Marie d%26#39;Ivry (or Villejuif - same direction). Take Line 7 to Pont Neuf.

This may look a long way round but, trust me, you do not want to change at Chatelet Les Halles if you have luggage.

Taxi would be under €10. No need to tip, although it%26#39;s customary to round up to next euro.

I feel that a metro map may be useful for you!
