Since Monday is %26quot;rest day%26quot; for Paris stores, retaurant, etc. would it be best to go on a Day trip for Chartres or do the Bike Tour in the city? It%26#39;s my first trip to Paris on April and try to do everything in 7 days. My husband and I want to do Chartres and the Bike Tour, but not sure what days to do it. Also, we will be arriving in Paris on Holy Saturday, any ideas on what to do on this day or Easter Sunday? We have reservations for LA TOUR D%26#39;ARGENT restaurant for Easter Sunday dinner. We are staying in Rue Jacobs, 6th. Are there any street markets on Sunday in the 6th?

I do not go shopping much in Paris, and eat most of my meals in cafes, so other then one or two main museums that I like to visit ,,that close on Monday, I find Monday much like any other day for sightseeing. The Louvre is open on Mondays,, and I love the Louvre. The Bateaus still run, the lovely churches ( see St Chapelle) are open, and not all museums close on Monday.
The bike tour is a good option, I did two and found them fun.
Have you written down a list of your %26quot;must sees%26quot; and determined the closed days for them?
Mondays in Paris are better then any weekend at home to me! LOL

Yes, I have a must see list, it%26#39;s just to much to see and info from TA and I do not want to miss anything. Thanks.

If you list your must see list, or your temporary itinerary, we can tell you approximately what is realistic in a day or what things to group together so you aren%26#39;t zig-zagging across Paris. There might be things on your list that we can say YES or NO and explain why which might help you sift through your list.

Monday%26#39;s are not that blue. The big stores are all open, it is only the small mom and pop businesses (like my tailor) that close and even then, many are open after lunch.
And at least 1/3 of the city%26#39;s restaurants are open, too.
You%26#39;ll have a harder time in Chartres on a Monday, than in Paris.
But a bike tour would be good any day of the week.
Street market on Sunday in that %26#39;hood would be boul Raspail between rue de Rennes and rue de Cherchemidi. It is organic. A bit chicer than your avg. market, but yummy treats abound.

Monday is a closing day for shops in small towns, but definitively not in Paris. As Phread says, it is not a closing day for all restaurants either (I would say more than 50% are actually open). Except Orsay and musée Carnavalet that are closed on Mondays, most museums will be open as well.
Regarding Easter, Easter Monday is a bank holiday in France (April 13th in 2009), but the previous Saturday and Sunday are just %26quot;normal%26quot; days.

So yes, this particular Monday (Easter Monday) will be definitively %26quot;blue%26quot;...
