Any information on village of St. Didier?

Hi - we have our eye on a house to rent in the village of St. Didier. Of course the website extols the virtues, but we were wondering if anyone here is familair with the area? Is it in an isolated area? If we want to tour many different sites in Provence, is it not such a convenient location?

Thanks as always.

Two years ago,we 4 ladies rented a gite in Venesque, about 3 miles from St.Didier.It was Sept. and Venesque was SO quiet that we drove there( St.D.) every morning for our caffe latte...a little restaurant right on the main road, with tables and chairs out on the sidewalk.Parking right across the road....except on market day.

There was a cute weekly market and a nice grocery/veggie and fruit store nearby....oh, and a great bakery !!

We all commented on what a nice town it was(but it%26#39;s small)...and we would have been better to stay there.

It%26#39;s a great area for exploring.Carpentras( close by) is a good size and had a fabulous market and L%26#39;Isle sur La Sorge also....Abbeye Senaque,Gordes,Rousillon...your day trips will be wonderful.

Be sure and venture over to St.Remy and Les Baux on the other side of A8 if you didn%26#39;t see those before.

Have fun.

St. Didier is not isolated, at least not in my opinion. It is about 15 minutes (or less) drive from Carpentras, about 30 from Avignon. Roads are good between it and the main towns.

As said, it is small, but there are a few restaurants and the necessary commerce. There is a good cave just outside St. Didier for wine. Beyond that there are many other wineries in the area that are good.

It is in a lovely setting. You are within easy reach of the northern parts of Provence and the Luberon.

I live about 15 minutes from St. Didier, in Bedoin, at the foot of Mt. Ventoux.

Hi I teach in St Didier one day a week. Like Toutou I would not say it is isolated and the roads are pretty good. I have to say there are some areas of the village which are better than others and it does depend where the house you are renting is.

There is one housing estate which has some light industry in the middle of it!!

If you need further information just let me know and email me direct.

Hi we visit St Didier every time we are in L%26#39;islesur la Sorgue, whish is often many times a year. It is small beautifuland the cafe opposite the Maire/weekly market etc , best coffee, superb plat du jour.Lovely situation for seeing Provence from both the Alpilles and the Luberon.
