Hi all,
I am heading to France later in the year and have book a house in the Loire, near a town called Sainte Maure de Touraine - just south of Tours.
If anyone has been to Sainte Maure de Touraine or in the region and has any tips about places to eat, drink or places to buy food and wine, markets etc it would be great.
I have seen the tourist website, which is enticing, but there is nothing like first hand recommendations.
Many thanks in advance,
Nick

Sainte Maure isn%26#39;t a great wine area, the famous local produce is the Ste Maure de Touraine cheese - which ironically doesn%26#39;t sit terribly well with any of the Loire Valley whites.
It isn%26#39;t the most picturesque of towns, but there are some pretty areas not too far away. Like most towns it has a twice weekly market, and a couple of decent lunch type restaurants.
This isn%26#39;t to say the food isn%26#39;t any good.. it%26#39;s just that it isn%26#39;t swanky Paris food (all presentation and style :¬) ), more your eveyday taste sensation
My blog will probably have an idea or two for you
Simon
