Intercontinental or Martinez

My husband and I stayed at the Intercontinental a couple of years ago in a deluxe seaview room. The only type of room available to us for this year is a classic room. Alternatively we could book a deluxe city view or a larger executive city view room at the Martinez. Which is best?

Both are great hotels but I would do the Martinez. The room is going to be bigger and most likely more affordable. The staff never changes and they treat you like a rock star The business services are much better and if you ask nicely they might just upgrade you to a seaview - especially if you return. I use to stay there during the media festivals and I always got upgraded to a suite after my second stay there.

We stay at the Martinez when we travel to Cannes for a convention in the fall. The rooms are quite large, and the staff, from the bottom up, is always more than pleasant and helpful.

We ended up booking a penthouse suite with huge terrace at The Grand instead since it was almost the same price as a cityview room at Martinez. I think it will be much better value. I also like the modern decor at The Grand. It looks very hip.

The Grand isn%26#39;t bad. They have some nice values. It sounds like you are getting familiar with Cannes - you might look into renting an apartment next time if you are not so concerned about services. You can find some nice large condos 100 sqm+ with large terraces with a view 500 meters from the Croisette for a bargain.
