Have they moved? I see there is a place with that name on rue Yves Toudic. The place I went to 2 yrs ago was on rue St Martin. Their escargot aux chocolat et pistache were fabulous! I hope it is the same business since I%26#39;m really looking forward to more of those escargots. Thanks.

iaatf, the original store location is just around the corner from our apartment and we became addicted to the %26quot;escargot aux chocolat et pistache%26quot;. Then they were gone. Thanks for posting this. We will definitely investigate the possible connection because we are hopeless junkies of the afore-mentioned delicacy. We enjoyed more than a year of loyal patronage at Du Pain et Des Idées when they were still in our neighborhood. The boulangerie that replaced it, chez Julian is really quite nice but nothing like Du Pain et Des Idées.

I saw an article on davidlebovitz.com about the place, dated 9/4/08. He mentions pinwheels with pistacio so I%26#39;m hoping.....
for both our sakes. Let me know. Thanks.

I will.

Sorry but I have to ask...I%26#39;m assuming that the %26quot;escargots%26quot; that you are referring to are something that is snail shaped and has chocolate and pistachios in it? Is it a pastry of some sort? Because otherwise snails with chocolate and pistachio sounds pretty nasty ;-)

Yes, they are a pinwheel shaped pastry with chocolate and pistachio paste and they are fabulous. I first read about them on this forum.

I am really interested in what you find out. Yum!!!

I just got back from Du Pain et Des Idées and it IS the same boulanger that was once on rue St-Martin. I obviously had to do some testing for authenticity and the escargot aux chocolat et pistache is as great as ever.
Thanks iaatf!! I never would have gone looking if it wasn%26#39;t for this post! We really missed that boulangerie when they closed their store on rue St-Martin.

Hi Metromole and iaatf: would you please tell me the exact address on Yves Toudic and which arrondissement that is in. I plan to put it on my itinerary for my Sept trip.
Thanks so much! It sounds yummy!

It%26#39;s at 34 rue Yves Toudic at the corner of rue de Marseille in the 10th arrondissement. I also grabbed a %26quot;escargot du citron%26quot; and it was wonderful.

Hi Metromole - Thanks for the great news! We will definitely put a stop there on our itinerary. It looks like it is fairly close to Canal St Martin and Chez Prune where we are hoping to go. We also bought some kind of chocolate and banana pastry when we were there that was also delicious. Seems like they could have done a much better job advertising their move. Enjoy the escargot!
