Hi everyone~ When we visisted last October, we saw hung all along the fence that surrounds the Luxembourg Gardens, beautuful black and white photographs. They were quite large and one after the other. I%26#39;m an idiot and did not write down the artist%26#39;s name, but the photos were brilliant. I believe the subject of this display had mostly to do with the North Pole. Amazing photographs - It was a fantastic moment to stumble upon this art hung for all to see. But that%26#39;s Paris isn%26#39;t it? Anyway, I%26#39;m wondering if they display different art all the time or was this a one time showing? I would really like to know. Anyone know?

Was this %26quot;Terre des Pôles%26quot; by Nicolas Mingasson? If you google something like %26quot;jardin du luxembourg%26quot; and %26quot;les grilles du jardin%26quot; there are quite a few sites showing at least some of the pictures which have been displayed over the years - http://www.photographie.com/?cmpid=111654 looks good.
The displays change, I believe - we saw loads of space photos once when we were in Paris, which was a real seredipity moment. I%26#39;ve read somewhere that the first display was the sequence of pictures of the earth from the air - %26quot;La Terre vue du ciel%26quot; by Yann Arthus-Bertrand.

Last May, there was a collection of pictures from the French magazine Le Figaro which had been blown up and hung along the gates of the Luxembourg. We spend well over an hour looking at them and reading the captions describing them.

Yes Diz you are right, it was %26quot;Terre des Pôles%26quot;! Thank you so much. I loved just walking along and voila, a beautiful and free art show! -it was a %26quot;serendipity moment%26quot; as you put it. The link you sent me stated that the exhibit was on from Sept 08- January 09. That%26#39;s a great link - it seems that they have quite a few showings. Great for the artists and the public. Again, thanks. The next time I%26#39;m in Paris, I will stop by and take a look.
