This is a question for someone who really knows the districts of Paris. I am debating on two locations to stay. One is in the 17th district somewhat on the border of the 18th. To be specific it is located on Rue de Rome. The other is in the 9th district on what appears to be a small street called Rue du Cardinal Mercier. I am mostly interested in easy access to subways and walking distances to other things. I used street view on google maps and noted that the Cardinal address appears to be a little more %26quot;charming%26quot; if you will; however, the other location has some great benefits too. I%26#39;m lost and need to book this thing ASAP as our trip is next week! If anyone can comment I would really REALLY appreciate it.

Do you know which end of the rue de Rome your hotel/apt. is? The rue de Rome runs from the Gare Saint-Lazare north (following the train tracks) to the Batignolles (I think the street ends at rue Cardinet). The Batignolles neighborhood is a charming one with a good market; it has bus connections but not a metro nearby. At the other end, the street is a bit dreary. However, there are good metro and bus connections at the Gare Saint-Lazare. The rue du Cardinal Mercier is also behind Gare Saint-Lazare but on the eastern side. It is close to Metro Liege and Metro Place de Clichy. I don%26#39;t know this neighborhood well. The Place Clichy is interesting and lively, a bit seedy. The 9th is an interesting district as well.

The 9th is more central. From Trinité you have métro line 12 that takes you directly to the center. Also it is easier to walk from the 9th

The rome location is about 600 meters north of Boulevard des Batignolles. The cardinal location is about 600 meters south of Boulevard des Batignolles just off of Rue de Clichy. I just want to be located close enough to public transportation and in an area that I don%26#39;t have to worry about being mugged. If the area is %26quot;seedy%26quot; as in %26quot;adult%26quot; I am fine. Thanks again for the responses.
